Alabama vs LSU Weekend Football Prediction – NCAAFootballPicks.com
Alabama Crimson Tide (8-0 SU, 6-2 ATS, 4-4 O/U) at LSU Tigers (5-2 SU, 3-4 ATS, 0-5-2 O/U)
NCAAF: Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 8 p.m. ET
The Line: Alabama -7
This is one of the most anticipated games of the season each and every year. LSU has somewhat reemerged on the national spotlight after winning three in a row and covering the spread in all three games. Alabama has been an absolute force winning all eight games this season and are 6-2 ATS. The Tide are simply loaded on both sides of the ball where they rank in the top 10 in points per game and opponents points allowed per game. Saturday brings a special challenge for both teams as LSU hopes they can open holes for RB Leonard Fournette, while the Tide defense hopes their #1 ranked rush defense will contain the beast in the backfield.
Alabama has a great offense and a defense which is also great and has held two ranked teams to a total of 24 points in their last two games. They are coming off a 33-14 win over Texas A&M where they rushed for more yards (287) than A&M had total yards (278). Alabama’s strength on offense is running the ball and LSU’s strength on D is their 8th ranked run defense. Last season at Alabama when LSU was the second ranked team in the nation the Crimson Tide beat the Tigers 30-16.
Leonard Fournette has only rushed for 670 yards but he has played in only 4 games. He has rushed for over 100 yards in each game and he is coming into this matchup after rushing for 284 yards vs Missouri. QB Danny Etling has passed for over 200 yards in each of the last three games but the Tigers clear weakness is their quarterback play. One unit that has to get it done in this game is the LSU offensive line. It is key that they open up holes for Fournette and protect Etling. That is easier said than done since the Tide not only have the nation’s best run defense, but they also have the most sacks in the nation.
Alabama Crimson Tide are:
- 4-0 ATS vs. a team with a winning record
- 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games
LSU Tigers are:
- 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game
- 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games in November
These two teams know each other very well and there will be no surprises. Alabama knows they need to stop the run and LSU knows they need Fournette to have a monster game in order to win. In the end, the Crimson Tide are just a better football team that really show very few weaknesses. Alabama has covered vs LSU in 4 of the last 5 games and Tide have covered 3 of their last 4 games with spreads greater than -14 points.
