An AFC West rivalry takes center stage Sunday night as the Chiefs visit the Mile High City to take on the Broncos. Kansas City had won five games in a row before falling at home to Tampa Bay last weekend. The Broncos have won three of their last four contests and are coming off a 25-23 victory at New Orleans.
This matchup goes way back as this is the 112th meeting between the two teams and the Chiefs lead the series, 57-53. However, Denver has won seven of the last eight games. Over the last 15 seasons, Denver has a 20-12 record against the division rival, with a 12-4 record in games played under mile high conditions.
Kansas City has been rather unimpressive this season, however, they enter this game 7-3 on the season. At times their defense has really shined, but it’s outings like last weekend losing in Tampa Bay, that make you wonder which team will show up on Sunday?
Aqib Talib should suit up Sunday night after missing the past three games. All three of Denver’s losses have come at the hands of potent offenses such as Atlanta, San Diego and Oakland. Kansas City is not a potent offense they are geared towards efficiency and sustained drives. A full Denver defense on board is bad news for a Kansas City offense that has been one of the worst in the NFL this season. The Chiefs are 3-8 AtS in their last 11 on the road against opponents with winning home records. Denver is 9-3-1 ATS in its last 13 overall, 6-1-1 ATS in its last eight at home.
I think this game sets up nicely for the Broncos at home. The Broncos offense hasn’t been much better than KC but I see some of the playmakers stepping up in front of the home crowd.
