Two historic franchises meet up in Arlington, TX to determine which team will play the Atlanta Falcons for the NFC Championship. Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers take on Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys. These teams have just about split the all time series with the Cowboys leading (21-20) which includes a (4-3) record in the playoffs. Dallas won the lone meeting this season, 30-16 but Green Bay won the last playoff meeting, 26-21 in 2014.
The Green Bay Packers handled the Giants with ease in their 38-13 Wildcard win last week, and have now won seven straight games. Aaron Rodgers continues his impressive season throwing for 362 yards with four touchdowns, no interceptions vs the Giants. Rodgers has now thrown 22 touchdowns and 0 interceptions over the last 8 games. The Packers hope to make the NFC championship for the second time in three years.
Dallas enjoyed a first round playoff BYE after their dominating 2016-17 campaign going (13-3), the second best record only to the New England Patriots (14-2). After Tony Romo went down in the preseason they never could have imagined that two super star rookies would lead them to the Playoffs. QB Dak Prescott finished the year with 3667 passing yards, 23 TD’s and only 4 INT’s. Perhaps just as impressive, if not more, has been rookie phenom Ezekiel Elliot who led the NFL with an astounding 1631 rushing yards with 15 touchdowns on the season. When this offense is cruising they are a complete offense and tough to stop.
The Packers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 playoff games and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Cowboys are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 playoff games. The Packers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 meetings in Dallas and the home team is 10-4 ATS in their last 14 meetings.
Dallas has a solid defense, however they are allowing an average of 260 passing yards per game, ranking them 26th in the NFL. Aaron Rodgers is a Super Bowl winning quarterback and is one of the hottest players in the game entering this matchup. I expect Rodgers to get his and put his Packers in position to win this game on the road. Taking the Packers +5.5 in what should be the best playoff game to date.
Packers vs Cowboys Prediction: Packers +5.5
