Florida vs Arkansas Weekend Football Prediction by George Hampton of KingSportsPicks.com
The Florida Gators head west to Fayetteville to take on the dangerous Arkansas Razorbacks. The 10th ranked Gators are in 1st place in the SEC East and now have a little breathing room after Tennessee’s loss to South Carolina. Arkansas is licking their wounds after their 56-3 loss at Auburn setting them back to 5th place in the SEC West and their 3rd conference loss on the season.
Florida has rebounded nicely after a September loss to Tennessee, winning three straight conference games. Florida leads a somewhat week SEC East division with a 4-1 conference record. The Gators score an average of of 29.4 points per game which ranks them 66th overall while their defense has been dominant, allowing an average of 11.7 points per game and ranking them 2nd in the country.
The Razorbacks appeared to be a dark horse to compete for the SEC West title early in the season. Bret Bielema had big expectations for his team this season after winning four of their first five games, with the only loss in the span being at #7 Texas A&M. Since then they have stumbled, to say the least, losing two of their last three games. The Arkansas offense is averaging 30.9 points and 416.8 yards per game ranking them 60th in the nation but it’s their defense that has been their achilles heel giving up 428 yards in the air (88th) and allowing 221 yards on the ground (109th).
There is no doubt the Gators will continue to lean on their top ranked defense to provide good field position but their offense has struggled a bit. This -3 point spread looks a little light for the 9th ranked team which makes you wonder and is the reason why I am focused on the Total. With a dominate Florida defense keeping this Arkansas offense in check and a Florida offense that has struggled, even at home, I like the Total to go Under 47.
The Total has gone Under 2 of the last 3 times these teams have played, Under is 4-1 in Gators last 5 games following a ATS win, 7-3 in Gators last 10 road games, 8-1 in Razorbacks last 9 games following a straight up loss and the Under is 7-1 in Razorbacks last 8 games following a bye week.
