The Ole Miss Rebels and the Georgia Bulldogs face off on Saturday in week 4 SEC college football action in Oxford, Mississippi. Ole Miss faced a tough loss to Alabama in week 3 while the Georgia Bulldogs came from behind to beat Missouri last Saturday. Oddsmakers have the Rebels slated as -7 point home favorites but do the Bulldogs have the edge? Calvin Adams provides his Georgia vs Ole Miss free ATS Expert prediction below.
Georgia is off to a (3-0 SU) start after wins over North Carolina, Nicholls and Missouri. The Bulldogs start a true freshman at quarterback, Jacob Eason, who showed up big time in his first SEC game vs Missouri. Eason completed 29 of 55 attempts for 308 yards with three touchdowns and 1 interception. Nick Chubb anchors the Georgia rushing attack with 365 yards and 3 touchdowns.
The ‘Dawgs haven’t done backers any favors so far going 1-2 against the spread. Georgia covered as a 3.5-point favorite versus UNC in an opening-week 33-24 victory but since then has failed to cover as a 52.5-point favorite (at home versus FCS foe Nicholls State) and as a 7-point road favorite last week at Missouri (28-27).
How will the Rebels respond after a devastating loss last week to Alabama? Ole Miss have essentially played their way out of the College Football Playoff. With two losses in the three weeks, the Rebels have sealed their fate. Last week, Ole Miss had Alabama against the ropes but couldn’t hold onto their huge early game lead. The Crimson Tide reeled off six consecutive touchdowns before Ole Miss got back into the end zone. The Rebels mustered only two field goals during a stretch in which they got outscored 45-6. The Rebels could not stop the run and they did not take care of the ball.
Ole Miss’ losses came at the hands of two top ranked teams in Florida State and Alabama. The clearly haven’t played up to expectations but it’s tough to overlook them in this situation.
Ole Miss is 4-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 home games, and 4-1 against the spread following a loss. Georgia is 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 road games, 2-5 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread, and 2-5 against the spread in their last 7 SEC games. Georgia has covered the point spread in six of their last 8 games against Ole Miss.
Georgia vs Ole Miss FREE ATS Expert Prediction: Under 62
The under is a perfect 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams in Mississippi and has cashed in seven of the last eight meetings overall. It will be a tough atmosphere to endure for the young Georgia QB and Nick Chubb has been contained the past couple of games. Georgia’s defense has been solid and they have a great secondary that could cause some issues for Ole Miss QB Chad Kelly. I see this game falling short of the Total 62.
