Raiders vs Chargers FREE NFL Pick Against the Spread by George Hampton of King Sports Picks
An AFC West rivalry game pitting the Oakland Raiders (2nd AFC West) vs the San Diego Chargers (4th AFC West). The Raiders sit behind the Chiefs for the division lead after losing to Kansas City on December 8th. Both teams are (10-3) but KC currently owns the tiebreaker. Oakland has gone (8-2) L10 and have won 6 of their last 7 games.
San Diego has once again dug themselves into a hole that is growing larger by the week. The Chargers need to start stringing together wins but it’s becoming very difficult with how awful Philip Rivers has played. Rivers has thrown for 27 touchdowns on the season but he has also thrown 17 interceptions and 10 of those interceptions have come in the last four games. RB Melvin Gordon is questionable for today’s game as he went down last week with a hip strain. Gordon is only 3 yards away from 1,000 rushing yards and shows promise as RB for years to come in San Diego. Also injured, on the defensive side, is rookie DL Joey Bosa. In just 9 games, Bosa has recorded 27 tackles and 6.5 sacks. When healthy Bosa is a force that offensive lineman must account for in the pass rush.
The Raiders lost to a very good Chiefs team on the road last week on short rest. No loss is good but it wasn’t necessarily a shocker. Right now the Raiders are a much better football team and it appears that the Chargers are crumbling in every aspect of the game. Philip Rivers’ gunslinger mentality is once again hurting this team and you can’t make errors against a good Raiders team. Raiders are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 road games and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 meetings in San Diego. Give me the Raiders -2.5 all day.
