Rangers vs Cardinals prediction by Oddsboard.com
Starting Pitcher: Cole Hamels (6-1) 3.14 ERA
The Rangers continued to win with a 5-1 victoryon Thursday behind starter Colby Lewis who carried a no hitter in to the 9th before allowing two hits and a run in a complete game performance. The Texas offense did their damage on nine hits and three bases on balls with Ian Desmond going 2-3 with a solo jack and a pair of runs while Adrian Beltre went 3-5 with two RBI’s and a run.
Both the Rangers and Cardinals have playoff expectations this season and while the Rangers have played well on the road (18-15) the Cardinals have scuffled a bit at home (15-18).
Cole Hamels has benefited from the offensive production in Texas. While in Philadelphia, Hamels lacked offensive support his last few years with the Phillies. The Rangers are currently ranked 8th in MLB with a .266 average and 4th in the NL. Texas has amassed 326 runs which would rank only behind Boston and Seattle for most in the AL.
St. Louis Cardinals
Starting Pitcher: Michael Wacha (2-6) 4.91 ERA
The Cardinals have been playing solid ball lately and before entering their 2 game series in Houston, the Cardinals won 7 of 8. St. Louis dropped both games to the Astros to snap a 5 game win streak.
Michael Wacha hasn’t enjoyed the same success as Cole Hamels so far this season. Wacha is coming a ND vs the Pirates but he pitched 7.0 innings, 5 strikeouts and gave up 2 runs in the Cardinals win. The last 9 starts for Wacha he has 6 losses and 3 no decisions.
The Cardinals can also swing the bats and currently rank 7th, above Texas, with a .267 team batting average and have scored 353 runs which also ranks better then the Rangers.
