The Minnesota Vikings are fresh off a big victory over the Green Bay Packers last Sunday. The Vikings are (2-0) to start the season and now they will venture into Charlotte without Adrian Peterson. Sam Bradford looked impressive in his Vikings debut completing 22-of-31 passes for 286 yards with two touchdowns. Bradford immediately struck a rapport with wideout Stefon Diggs, who torched the Packers secondary for 182 yards on nine catches with a touchdown. Bradford and his sudden inclination to throw deep is a very welcome development for the Vikings ahead of their visit to Carolina. They now have a deep threat with Diggs who is capable of exploiting a questionable Panthers secondary.
The Vikings win or lose with their defense. Minnesota has one of the top defenses in the league and they harrased Aaron Rodgers on Sunday. They look to do the same with Cam Newton.
Carolina covered the -13.5 point spread over the 49ers in their home opener. They won convincingly but they committed 4 turnovers which is a cause for concern.
Winning big at home is nothing new for the Panthers. They’ve now extended their current home winning streak (regular season and playoffs) to 14 games. They have also gone 7-0 ATS in their last seven, with their offense averaging an astounding 40 points per game during those seven games.
Cam Newton threw for 353 yards and 4 TD’s on Sunday. Kelvin Benjamin is making up for lost time with 199 yards and three touchdowns in his first two games.
This game features two of the top teams in the NFC and two of the top defenses in the NFL. However, if you look at recent games between the two teams the total has gone Over in the last 2 meetings. The Panthers offense should have more success at home than the Packers and the Panthers defense allowed 27 points to the 49ers. The public should pound the Under but the sharp money is on the Over.
